Rabid Radicals Unleash Your Desire for Revenge
Take Revenge on Your Personal and Professional Enemies
One day you’re pondering your existence and the many things that went wrong. Even though you know you’re responsible for your life, you think of the people who derailed you from success and happiness. You suffered through love relationships that once displayed much love and passion, and you worked on projects for companies that showed promise only to have them fall apart. To make matters worse, you are now witnessing the demoralizing spectacle of rabid radicals running around destroying life, liberty and property. You become angry and feel a need to get even with the perpetrators of your failure and misery. Only one thing ultimately fires you up…the desire for sweet revenge. You even convince yourself that it’s virtuous.
Revenge and Self-Loathing
If you thought about it long enough, you might realize you’re responsible for the choices you made. However, you can’t stand the self-loathing, guilt and disgust you would feel. After all, you made your decisions based on hope and good faith. You think, “How could it be my fault that I got involved with people who would hurt me or completely let me down? I didn’t realize they were severely flawed neurotics who would attempt to do me in. And as far as rabid radicals go, I didn’t invite them into my world.”
Still, I wonder how the above applies to my own life?
On further reflection, I remember what Steve Maraboli said, “Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience.”
“The victim mindset dilutes the human potential. By not accepting personal responsibility for our circumstances, we greatly reduce our power to change them.”
That doesn’t help me feel better or diminish my passion for revenge. The more I think about it, the sweeter and more virtuous revenge sounds. I wonder how I can get even with the women who betrayed me, the business partners who cheated me, the employers who exploited my services, the co-workers who undermined my efforts, the people that tried to discourage me from taking beneficial action and the rabid radicals who are attempting to destroy my quality of life.
As I drift deeper into my disturbing thoughts, I remember how my parents scolded me and said, “Snap out of your impossible dreams and desires and return to reality.” Well, I will show them!
The Problem with Direct Action
I will become the storm that completely blows my enemies away. What a pleasure that will be.
Most people consider the bible a reliable source, so the following quote is quite pertinent for my ideas of revenge.
“But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.” Exodus 21:23-25.
That should supply me many pleasures.
Unfortunately, I see a problem. How can I take revenge without suffering my enemies’ counter-attacks?
Confucius stated “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”
It appears direct action is too apparent and will invite retaliation. Self-defeating behavior isn’t in my best interest. In fact, detachment from people who hurt me could help me seek revenge without sabotaging my peace of mind.
That means emotionally; I have to let go of the negative feelings towards the perpetrators of my misery. I’m not letting them off the hook; I’m letting myself off the hook. It’s enlightening knowing I can have positive thoughts when I dispense the fury of my revenge.
Wait a minute. Anger is another problem and will interfere with detachment and peace of mind. Alexander Pope stated
“To be angry is to revenge the faults of others on ourselves.”
Well, that’s not going to work because revenge works best if you have a smile on your face. Yes! How sweet it is.
I’ve concluded that getting even with someone takes a subtle approach. You can’t allow your enemies to know what you’re up to. You must keep them in the dark. Direct action is too obvious.
Revenge by Dirty Tricks and Pranks
It occurs to me that I could resort to dirty tricks to turn the table on the perpetrators of my many downfalls.
I remember reading a book by George Hayduke, “Get Even: The Complete Book of Dirty Tricks.”
I could spread a rumor that one of my enemies has a love child and refuses to support it. Maybe I could find a more devious way to make an enemy sweat. How rewarding it would be to get hold of the diary of one of the women who cheated on me. I once worked with a woman who went by the nickname “The Barracuda.” I wonder if it’s possible to destroy her career like she practically destroyed mine.
Of course, I could resort to playing some clever pranks as outlined in the book “The Prankster’s Ultimate Handbook: The World’s Most Infamous, Illustrated, Hardcore Guide to Fiendishly Clever Practical Jokery & Much, Much More.”
The problem I will probably encounter with any of the above tactics is that what goes around comes around, which would be the last thing I need.
Anyway, Benjamin Franklin supplies this bit of wisdom.
“Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools, that don’t have brains enough to be honest.”
The biggest problem to overcome is the time it would take to accomplish revenge on each enemy…one by one. The effort would prove enormous and time-consuming, much so that it would probably consume me. I must find a more effective way to get even with those who put me down.
The Holistic Solution or One Stone Kills All
What if one action or one accomplishment guaranteed I’d get revenge on all my enemies? Even better, what if I didn’t have to take any action towards them? I could make revenge sweet and virtuous.
The false face people present to the world is their persona. Merriam-Webster defines it as
“an individual’s social facade or front that especially in the analytic psychology of C. G. Jung reflects the role in life the individual is playing.”
Instead of living by their authentic selves, my antagonists probably live as metaphysical and (or) political phonies. You would think that’s a rather tough persona to maintain; however, eventually, it becomes automatic.
How would they feel about a person who lives by his highest aspirations instead of second-hand? Instead of suffering as society’s slave, I would exist as a powerful individualist. Yes! I just discovered the highest form of revenge, which gives me the pleasure of telling the world, “Hey assholes and bitches (Oops! I mean gentlemen and sweet ladies), you were wrong about me. Rabid radicals, I possess the power to smack you down.” And I don’t have to say another word because my success does the talking. I just took another step towards gaining power in the social maze while my enemies remain firmly stuck in the hive mind mentality. After all, I am a Conservative Warrior.
Yes indeed! Revenge is sweet and virtuous…and accomplishing the unexpected is part of what power is all about.
