The recent standoff between a Nevada cattle rancher and Obama’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) clearly illustrates why our Founders wrote the Bill of Rights. Specifically, this event points to why America dearly needs the Second, Fourth and Tenth Amendments.
Were it not for those Amendments Mr. Bundy would be homeless, his private property confiscated by Jack-booted Feds and all the American citizens who rallied to his support would just be standing in the Nevada desert unarmed and helpless.
Since it’s equally clear the Obama Administration has total disregard for the Fourth and Tenth Amendments (among others), the only thing that saved the day against the BLM was the fact that many American citizens had guns as provided by the Second. As our Founders understood, all of the Amendments would have little meaning (or staying power) were it not for Americans having the right to bear arms to help preserve them.
This event should be a loud clarion call to all those misguided souls who continue to insist that law abiding Americans should disarm and that only the Federal government be allowed to have guns. Imagine the national political and social disaster that would have occurred if the BLM had fired on Americans. Even Obama’s doting media would have had a difficult time defending the subsequent carnage. Most of the genuflecting media gave short shrift to this important story because it placed Obama and Reid in poor sunlight. But it would have been impossible to hide the bloodshed had it actually occurred before the 2014 elections.
That’s how revolutions start. And that’s why the BLM retreated.
The Conservative Party decries this obvious Federal ham-fisted overreach. CP-USA applauds all the private citizens (Minutemen) who came to the aide of their countrymen. We also hope Mr. Bundy uses all available legal, administrative and non-violent avenues to take his case to the Supreme Court.
CP-USA rejects the idea of Obama sending 200 armed BLM agents supported by combat helicopters and trained attack dogs to confiscate the private property of an American citizen just because he failed to pay grazing fees. Now that’s domestic terrorism….Harry! The Feds also tried to hide under the obvious canard they were trying to save endangered desert turtles.
Turtles! Seriously?
