ISIS Not Sophisticated But They Are Islamic

It’s refreshing to see Obama finally walking around with his hair on fire about the barbaric and medieval terrorist tribe, aka ISIS. After Obama’s numerous verbal gaffs and ungainly foreign policy pratfalls, the Conservative Party was relieved to see the President of the United States actually speaking in clear declarative sentences about an obvious threat to the civilized world. We support his change of heart by saying he wants to kill terrorists rather than just degrading them into a “manageable problem”. Strike up the band. Finally!

We are equally pleased to hear POTUS, Democrats and their liberal media acolytes actually use the word “terrorists” when describing ISIS. This is a term they usually reserve for the Tea Party. It’s sad that it took the brutal beheadings of two journalists for liberals to understand what true evil is when they see it. They get confused so easily.

Of course libs still refuse to admit that ISIS is an Islamic terrorist group. Even when the ISIS head honcho speaks in Islamic terms and uses the Koran as a guide, liberals are unable to grasp the obvious. God…oops…Allah only knows why. But if liberals were capable of clear thinking…they wouldn’t be liberals in the first place.

Obama’s precipitous and unwise removal of all US troops from Iraq in 2011 has come back to haunt the world. And him. He used the failure to reach a Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq as a fig leaf for that action. The fact that we now have more than 1,500 troops in Iraq without such an Agreement attests to how shallow and fallacious his excuse was at the time.

The Conservative Party rejects the conventional wisdom that ISIL is “sophisticated”. They are not. Filming slick videos or creating Twitter hash tags or doing Facebook posts does not make you sophisticated. If that were the case then we would consider the guys on Duck Dynasty as sophisticated.

ISIS creates nothing but death and destruction wherever it goes. They rape, pillage and murder people from every religion, especially other Muslims. Dumb.

ISIS is piling up an impressive list of enemies that include Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, England, the Kurds, the Shiites and the US. They have very few friends on their side of the ledger. Dumber.

They occupy an expanding geographical area that will become increasingly more difficult to defend. They’re allowing every simple-minded, misguided, stupid and crazy Osama wannabe to join their outfit. This opens the door for US and coalition spy infiltration. And they were dumb enough to kill two Americans on worldwide TV. That did nothing but poke a sleeping tiger in the eye with a sharp stick. Unless ISIS is hiding all their money under a big mattress in some cave, it won’t be long before the NSA finds and “appropriates” that money. Dumbest.

What the hell is sophisticated about all that?

Al-Qaeda was sophisticated. They recruited a select few who conducted well-planned strikes against limited targets. Nobody infiltrated al Qaeda.

This ISIS horde, however, will be relegated to the trash heap of history if confronted NOW. The United States must also permanently evoke the passports of the treasonous “Americans” who now fight alongside ISIS.

DO WE NEED YET ANOTHER WAR?,,, a counter Argument

The first war that the United States fought in the Twentieth Century was the First World War. Often billed as the “War to End All Wars: it had the opposite effect. The Germans (and their allies) had fought the Western Allies to a stalemate. A negotiated end seemed unavoidable. Then the United States entered the war on the side of the Western Allies and provided the resources and sorely needed fresh manpower. The result was a defeat for Germany. A forced agreement left Germany in a depression and ready for the leadership of anyone who promised better times and revenge. The Japanese military officers who served on the staff of the Western Allies determined that Germany lost because she lacked internal resources. Both nations set out to correct these issues and World War II was the result.

An energized Soviet Union, weakened Germany, Japan, and Britain encouraged Russian expansion. The Cold War was thus born and events such as the American overthrow of a democratically-elected government in Iran (google Kermit Roosevelt; also “All The Shah’s Men” by Stephen Kinzer) and the Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan led to newly invigorated Islamic movements. The Korean and Vietnam wars were also born of the Cold War. The Gulf Wars developed from the Islamic movements and from America’s thirst for oil. These wars, increased Islamic activity, and American direct support for the arguably only democracy in the Middle East, Israel, led to events such as Islamic terror attacks on the U.S., the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and actions in Libya. The development of ISIS and other Syrian rebel movements can be similar connected to these events.

To date our wars since World War I are estimated to have cost the U.S. $11.225 Trillion (http://fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RS22926.pdf) (and http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/29/us-usa-war-idUSTRE75S25320110629) and over 625,000 lives to say nothing of the lost opportunities in business, employment of our people, and better standards of living for our people that have been forever lost due to the financial drain caused by spending our resources on war. (The current federal debt is estimated at $17.7 Trillion.) George Washington cautioned us to avoid foreign entanglements. For over a century we heeded his words as the nation developed and expanded. Over the past century we have ignored them. What a contrast in results! We are now producing enough energy to meet our needs and to export vast amounts making involvement in the Middle East unnecessary. (See “The New American Militarism” by Andrew Bacevich for more on the military costs.)

While I am in uncomfortable territory in finding common cause with Barrack Obama’s reticence in entering yet another war, we need to avoid these wasteful wars that prove to us time and time again the efficacy of “The Law of Unintended Consequences.” We are rather committed to helping to resolve the ISIS crisis. But let’s demand any action be coupled with a demand for a plan to get us out of the Middle East and other trouble spots. We have been living a sort of Pax Americana in which we try to maintain world peace. Just like the Pax Britannia and the Pax Romana before it, ours is doomed to fail and destroy the nation that attempts it. This is a difficult concept for many of us, particularly those who have served in the military and especially those who have fought our wars. We need to continue to honor our veterans and consider military service as one of the highest callings possible. However, their employment to try to keep the world at peace does neither them, nor the country, any true, lasting good. Instead of adopting the same tired approach that has failed for the Republicans and the Democrats, let’s try to steer the American ship back to traditional conservatism!
